Rossini & Brahms
Event details
Tickets for this concert are currently only available as part of a subscription series. Individual tickets go on sale in February 2024.
Dover Quartet violinists Joel Link and Bryan Lee open this program with Rossini’s Sonata a quattro No. 1, a sparkling gem of the classical era. Brahms’ lush and sweeping G Major String Sextet—a masterwork of the Romantic string repertoire—closes the program. In between, we present the US premiere of a Festival-commissioned quintet by Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen, whose “fusion of silence and music, as well as jazz and classical idioms,” reports Gramophone, “draws on her Lapland roots and on the mystery and melancholy of life in the north.”
