Ricardo A. Hernandez

Ricardo A. Hernandez is currently in his seventh year as Director of Bands at Capital High School in Santa Fe after teaching for 22 years in Brownsville, Texas. Next year will mark his 30th year as a music educator. Upon graduation from East Texas State University in 1982,  Mr. Hernandez served for 10 years as Associate Principal Horn in the United States Marine Band, “The President’s Own”, in Washington DC, and earned his Master’s degree in Music Performance from The Catholic University of America.

While living in the DC area, Mr. Hernandez was also the principal Horn in The Arlington Symphony before winning a position with the Filarmonica de la Ciudad de Mexico. Mr. Hernandez has been playing with the High Desert Winds and Concordia Wind Orchestra since moving to Santa Fe in 2016 and is currently the membership chair with HDW.
