Two Nina Otero Community School students recently auditioned and earned a place in the New Mexico American Choral Directors Association All-State Mixed Choir as well as the North Central New Mexico Music Educators Association Honor Choir! They’ve been working with Travis Bregier, Dream Big Teaching Artist, to prepare for the auditions.
Emma and Juanito both made New Mexico American Choral Directors Association (NMACDA) All-State Mixed Choir and the North Central New Mexico Music Educators Association Honor Choir! They’ve been working with Dream Big Teaching Artist Travis Bregier since Fall 2023 to prepare for the auditions. Nina Otero Community School Choral Director Caitlin Lord proactively knocked on the Festival’s doors to enroll her students in the Dream Big program, saying, “they’re always working on music outside of class and performing above and beyond their classmates.” Caitlin adds, “they are wonderful students and I’m so grateful I get to work with them. They also happen to be some of the kindest people I have ever known.”
The 2024 NMACDA All-State Choir will perform on January 25-27 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM.
