Violinist Carla Ecker currently performs as Concertmaster of the Rogue Valley Symphony in Ashland, OR, as well being a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra since 1993. She currently resides in Phoenix, AZ where she performs regularly with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Ecker previously held the post of Associate Concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra where she also performed as Interim Concertmaster for several seasons. She has performed as Guest Concertmaster for Opera Southwest and held principal positions in the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, New Mexico Symphony and the El Paso Symphony. In addition, her career has included positions with the Santa Fe Pro Musica, Santa Fe Symphony, Charleston Symphony, and Pacific Symphony.
In her diverse career, Ms. Ecker has toured nationally with such varied artists as internationally renowned guitarist Ottmar Liebert as well as the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, and has recorded with the indie rock band Calexico. She has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and has made solo appearances with the El Paso Symphony and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. A native of Tucson, Ms. Ecker is a graduate of the University of Arizona where she was a student of Dr. John Ferrell. She is a strong advocate for live classical music and has been a founding member of the Daystar Chamber Players in Tucson as well as Artifact Dance Project, a collaborative company focusing on live chamber music and dance, for which she was Co-Music Director. In addition, Ms. Ecker has had a private violin studio and enjoys coaching young people as they develop as musicians. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Academy for Cancer Wellness.
